Priest/Deacon

Called to be Disciples of Christ, let us confidently place our prayers before our loving God.

 

Deacon :    Let us pray for the church

 Leader:

1.       Lord, grant that the servant of the servants of God,  Pope Benedict, our bishop Denis our priests deacons and religious, may, by their lives and humility preach your Son Jesus Christ who came to serve, not to be served.

Pause     We pray to the Lord 

R: Lord, hear our prayer

 

Deacon: Let us pray for world leaders

Leader:

2.      Lord, give world leaders the wisdom to administer justice and peace for all and the discernment to avoid war and oppression

Pause     We pray to the Lord 

R: Lord, hear our prayer

 

Deacon: Let us pray for our community

 Leader:

3.      Lord give us the grace to know the teachings of our faith, the humility to live by them, and the love of you and our neighbor to put them into practice.

Pause     We pray to the Lord                     

                        R: Lord, hear our prayer

 

Deacon: Let us pray for the sick

Leader:

4.      We pray that all who suffer from the pain of physical or mental illness may be strengthened by the healing presence of your son Jesus Christ

Pause     We pray to the Lord.

                      R: Lord, hear our prayer

 

Deacon: Let us pray for the dead

Leader:

5.     May all those who have died, especially the victims of war and natural disaster, find eternal peace in the loving embrace of our saviour Jesus Christ

Pause - Eternal rest grant to them O Lord.

R:            Let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace?        Amen

 

Priest/Deacon:

Almighty God, you sent your Son, Jesus, to sanctify your people. Grant us the grace to do your will in all things We ask this through Christ our Lord and the intercessions of Mary as we pray.   Hail Mary….

Lord, grant Pope Benedict, our bishop-------, our priests deacons and religious, the courage to preach the good news, to inspire faith in others, and by their lives, to witness to the love of God for every person.

2. Deacon: Let us pray for world leaders

Leader:

Lord, show world leaders the futility of war and grant them the goodwill to relieve third world countries of poverty, famine, debt and destitution.

3.  Deacon: Let us pray for our community

 Leader:

May all the members of our community by our lives   boldly proclaim to all, our love for you and for all your children

For a deepened respect for life in each of us, that our appreciation of the human dignity of every person guides us in caring fully for all people, especially our children, born and unborn; for people with disabilities; for those suffering from injustice or economic hardship; for the elderly and those approaching death.

We pray to the Lord...

 

For those who work to protect life – human life and all life on the Earth on which human life depends – that they be supported and empowered in their work for human rights, social and environmental justice.

As we work in the vineyard of the Lord with love and loyalty let us bring our petitions to God our Father.

 

1.        Deacon: Let us pray for the Church

Leader

Lord, we pray for our holy father Pope Benedict, our bishop Denis, our priests religious, and deacons. May they preach Jesus Christ through the lives they live.

2.      Deacon: Let us pray for New Zealand

Leader

Lord, may the civil authorities of our land, come to learn and be guided by the gospel of your Son our Lord Jesus Christ.

  1. Deacon: Let us pray for our young people

Leader:

Lord may your saints by their love, commitment and sacrifice be a continuing source of inspiration to our young people in all they say and do

  1. Deacon: Let us pray for those who are suffering

Lord deliver those who are most in need . . . Bring peace to the victims of war, terrorism and natural disaster: feed the hungry, heal the sick and meet the needs of the poor.

                                R: Lord, hear our prayer.

 

 

5. Deacon: Let us pray for the dead

Leader

Lord give peace to those who mourn and take to yourself   all those who have died this week.

Pause:              Eternal rest grant to them O Lord

R: And let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace Amen

Lord, we make these and our silent prayers of our hearts in the name of Jesus your Son, his mother Mary and all the saints.

Lord may those who, because of wars or oppressive regimes, are forced to leave their homes and country, be supported by Christians in the defence and protection of their rights

2.       Deacon: Let us  pray for this parish community

Leader

Lord let us rejoice in the racial diversity of our community.  Guide us in the love of our neighbour: to see others as fellow human beings made in God’s image: but each with the distinctive gifts you have granted us.

  1. Deacon:                 Let us pray for fathers

Leader

Let us  thank God today for our parents - bless them, hallow all the good they do and lead them in wisdom, human kindness and  love now and forever.

Leader

Lord deliver those who are in need . . . victims of natural disaster: the poor, the starving, the sick of mind and body and the lonely

  1. Deacon:                 Let us pray for the dead

Leader

Lord give peace to those who mourn and take unto yourself those who have died this week especially in our community.

Lord, grant these and all the prayers of our hearts, that we offer you, through your Son our lord Jesus Christ as we gather in his name.

Priest:

Jesus seeks commitment from those who would follow him. Let us express our own devotion to him in our prayers and petitions.

 

 

1.       Deacon: Let us pray for the Church. 

Leader:

Lord, we pray for pope, Benedict, our bishop............, priests, deacons, religious, and all who minister to your people. Give them the courage that ever displays their commitment to your Son Jesus Christ.

 Pause     We pray to the Lord

                         R: Lord, hear our prayer

 

 

2.      Deacon: Let us pray for peace among  nations

Leader:

Lord we pray for all the nations of the world . . . for all leaders that they may seek peace, wisdom  and the common good . . . and for the growth of trust among all peoples . . .especially in Eastern Europe at this time

Pause     We pray to the Lord 

                  R: Lord, hear our prayer

        

 

3.      Deacon: Let us pray for the young people

Leader:

Lord, we pray for the safety and well being of all our young people.  Protect them from violence and substance abuse and may their lives be an inspiration of good to all around them.

4.      Deacon: Let us pray for all people who are sick or suffering

Leader:

Lord we pray that all who suffer from the pain of physical or mental illness may be strengthened by the healing presence of Christ Jesus

5.      Deacon:    Let us pray for  those who have died

Leader:

Lord,   we pray that our loved ones who have gone before us find eternal rest

Pause     Lord hear us

                      R: Lord, hear our prayer

 

 

 

Priest: Lord you made Mary our mother. Through her intercessions, grant strength to the weak, comfort to the sorrowing and pardon to sinners. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
